Soon after buying my Zaurus SL-5500, I decided I needed a SD card to hold all my data, as well as applications, and freeing up the CF slot for a Wlan card, which would turn out to be my next Zaurus purchase.
I bought the PNY 256Mb SD Card from Ebuyer, it was possibly the cheapest 256Mb card I could find in the UK. The card has SD-M256B1 printed on it, as a product identification number.
It came formatted with a default MS-DOS/Windows-compatible FAT file system, and I used it with the Zaurus in this format for a while. Then I used fdisk and mke2fs, and reformatted it with an ext2 file-system and a second partition as fat. I did this via the Zaurus console. The fat partition was still accessible via Windows PC and a USB sd-card-reader.
I then rebuilt the 2.38 UK ROM Zaurus and installed my applications and games on the sd-card, as much as possible. The 3.10 US ROM was appealing, so I cleared the sd-card ( cd /mnt/card ; rm -rf * ) and flashed the 3.10 ROM onto the Zaurus. Yet again, I installed applications onto the sd-card as much as possible to maximise the available Zaurus RAM.
I've had no problems with the card over the past 6 months, and would thoroughly recommend this model to others. The applications have been running fine off it. The 'value' card has turned up trumps!
