· How easy is the display to read with the light off?
- In bright light, it's very good
In bright light (outdoors during daytime, or in a brightly lit room or, for example, grocery store), the light isn't actually useful.
The display looks similar to GameBoy Advanced screens in these situations.

- In a dark room, it's impossible to see
With the light completely off, it's almost impossible to see in a dark room. With the frontlight at it's lowest setting (under 'Light & Power'), visibility is suitable in a very dark room.

· My screen seems pushed over to the left.
- This is for the frontlight
The Zaurus's LCD display is slightly off-center, pushed to the left about 1mm, to make room for the front-light which is on the right side of the screen.

· My Zaurus does not register screen taps correctly.
- You may need to recalibrate the touch screen
When you notice that the Zaurus is a bit off in registering your screen taps (e.g. you type "gwkki" instead of "hello" when using the on screen keyboard) it might be a good idea to recalibrate the touch screen. To do this, go to the Settings tab and click "Recalibrate" (Sharp Rom 3.10). Now you can recalibrate the touch screen, be sure to tap in the centre of the cross hairs!

· Can I turn the LCD display off completely, like when playing music? Does it have any impact on battery life?
- You can only do this with the Sharp SL-5500 3.x ROM and later Zaurus models, and yes it does save a relatively significant amount of battery life.
There are several ways to turn off the LCD display:
1) The Sharp Media Player in the latest Sharp ROMs has a button on the play screen to turn the display off.
(There is a bug with this where if you change tracks or volume with the direction pad while the display is off, it will turn the frontlight on again. To work around this, turn the frontlight off before turning the LCD display off)
2) Install the Brightness Applet or LCD Switch applet from ZSI, which both let you turn the display off.
3) Run the following command in the terminal (not as the root user, except with tkcROM):
qcop QPE/System 'setBlankLCD(int)' 1
In all cases pressing the Cancel button turns the display back on again.
